Join Gianni on a Unique Exploration of the Flavors of Emilia Romagna

Gianni will be your personal guide every step of the way as we veer off the beaten track in the region that embodies more than any other Italy’s culinary spirit.

We start on the Adriatic Coast enjoying the many flavors of Romagna. We’ll stay in a restored palazzo in an intact medieval village and pick mushrooms in the Apennines foothills. We wind up in Bologna, nicknamed “La Grassa” (The Fat One), for its quintessential food appreciation. We’ll day-trip to Parma and Modena for the cheese, prosciutto and balsamic vinegar.

Your week will be filled with fantastic food opportunities and  you’ll understand the importance of this authentic food culture. You’ll learn Gianni’s methods on how to get the most of your culinary travels.

This 8-day trip features:

  • Stays at three locations: a family hotel on the Adriatic Coast, in the heart of Romagna,  a mountain convent-turned-hotel in the Apennines mountains bordering Tuscany, and a polished five start hotel within the walled portion of Bologna.
  • Four cooking classes featuring the best of local products and recipes;
  • All meals, including beverages (breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, starting with dinner on September 25 and ending with breakfast on October 2) and a house selection of wines
  • A mushroom hunt with a local guide and picnic lunch
  • An English-speaking guide
  • Unique cultural and culinary experiences to reveal the true heart of Italian cooking in spectacular location. Your body and soul satiated from the inside out!

Accommodations

1. Hotel Sirena, Cesenatico. A four-star family-run hotel on the Adriaic Coast, where the DellaPasqua family will welcome you as a member of their own and will show you the culinary treasures of Romagna.

2. Hotel Vecchio Convento, Portico di Romagna. In an old convent turned into a hotel, in a medieval town that will steal your heart, Signora Marisa and her family will show us the beauties of mushroom hunting and turning them in delicious dishes!

3. Hotel dei Commercianti, Bologna (to be confirmed). In the heart of Bologna, where everything is discoverable on foot, we will be staying near the culinary heart of the city, the area around Via Clavature and Via Drapperie.

You’ll begin in the mountains of La Sila, where you’ll hunt in nearby woods for the famed porcini mushrooms and enjoy sumptuous mushroom dishes for dinner. On the east coast, enjoy a cooking demo at one of Calabria’s best estates, with an olive oil mill and garden. Then it’s on to the dazzling west coast, to a cliff side hotel in Cetraro with its own organic farm for another class. We then head south to Tropea, where you will attend a cooking class at a farm and tour the market at Vibo Valentia. Finally, we will return to Lamezia for an exclusive wine tasting at a local producer.This 9-day trip features:

  • Stays at four locations: a family hotel in the Sila mountains, a cliff side hotel in Cetraro, a five-star resort near Tropea and a five start hotel in Lamezia
  • Four cooking classes featuring the best of local products, some picked from the property’s farm
  • All meals, including dinners at some of the region’s best restaurants
  • A mushroom hunt with a mycologist guide and picnic lunch
  • A guided tour of a colorful local produce market in Vibo Valentia
  • Excursions to top producers of olive oil, cheese, and wine
